Out Story
Since 1998, the father-daughter pharmacist team, Tom Reed and Dana Reed-Kane, have served the Tucson community with dedication, expertise and history invested in caring for patients. Prior to teaming with his daughter in 2001, Tom owned and operated Jones United Drug Company in Tucson since 1979. In 2023, Reed’s joined together with a group of other small, community-focused compounding pharmacies as part of Pharmacy Innovations. What makes this news so exciting is the opportunity it creates for growth. By becoming part of Pharmacy Innovations, we are now connected to a larger family of 11 community pharmacy locations that share the same values Tom Reed, the Reed family, and the Reed’s team have brought to Tucson over the past several decades: compassion, service, integrity, and a commitment to doing what is best for each patient.

Protecting, Promoting & Advancing Pharmacy Compounding
Our Mission
At Reed’s Compounding Pharmacy, we understand that no two patients are alike. It is our mission to provide the highest quality custom prescriptions, unique services and education to meet each patient’s healthcare needs and improve quality of life. Our pharmacists are available to make specific recommendations based on your needs and consult with your doctor/provider to obtain an appropriate prescription.
We are dedicated to caring for our patients as individuals. As a father/daughter pharmacist team, we have meshed the roots of pharmacy compounding with the pharmaceutical advances of the future to create our state-of-the-art compounding pharmacy practice. Most importantly, we uphold the integrity that our patients expect from caring medical professionals.
Considering that a patient’s health care must be as unique as the individual him/herself, the best medical solutions often arise from compounding. This process of creating medications that are unique to each individual allows us to provide more than the standard one-size-fits-all approach. With a primary focus on the individual patient, Reed’s Compounding Pharmacy offers professional consulting services with one or more of our pharmacists on staff. During 30 to 60-minute consultations, patients learn about proactive, viable options to optimize their healthcare in a way that caters to their unique needs. While our pharmacists do not prescribe medications, we educate patients and work directly with patients’ physicians or providers, by recommending therapies, medications and specific dosage forms such as creams, gels, flavored suspensions, suppositories, troches, and more.
Reed’s Compounding Pharmacy has been in business since 1998, but the Reeds have more years of dedication, expertise and history invested in caring for patients. From 1979 until 2001, Tom Reed owned Jones United Drug Company in Tucson. With a strong work ethic and passion for providing individual care to his patients, Tom established a dedicated clientele of patients. When he closed the doors of this full-service pharmacy, Jones United Drug Company was recognized for its contributions as the longest independently run pharmacy in Arizona state history.

Thomas Reed
R.Ph., FACA
Pharmacist and co-creator of Reed’s Compounding Pharmacy, Thomas C. Reed graduated from the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy in 1969. Tom previously owned Jones United Drug Co., a traditional independent pharmacy, that filled prescriptions and did limited compounding. After closing Jones United Drug Co. in 2001, Tom decided to partner with his daughter, Dana Reed-Kane, at Reed’s Compounding Pharmacy where he could continue to work closely with patients and provide quality care on a daily basis. A pioneer in the field of compounding pharmacy, Tom was one of the last true independent pharmacy owners in Arizona. In fact, when Tom closed Jones Drug Company, it was the longest running independent pharmacy left in the State of Arizona. Tom had a lifelong love for his profession, his patients and his community. Unfortunately, Tom passed away in January of 2026 and will be greatly missed by all.
