Dana speaks on Macular Degeneration
On Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, Dana spoke on the risks of vision loss resulting from Macular Degeneration. Together with Sharam Danesh, MD, from the Arizona Retina Institute and Gary Morgan, OD, from Eye Tech Eye and associates; Kevin Huff, OD, from Viewfinder Low Vision Resource Center, Dana will present and share the potential benefits of Mega Omega supplements.
Aging and Vision – Macular Degeneration
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a medical condition which usually affects older adults and results in a loss of vision in the center of the visual field (the macula) because of damage to the retina. It occurs in “dry” and “wet” forms. It is a major cause of blindness and visual impairment in older adults (>50 years). Macular degeneration can make it difficult or impossible to read or recognize faces, although enough peripheral vision remains to allow other activities of daily life.

Nationwide drug shortages are getting bad, affecting healthcare and costs.

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) – How do you know that the drugs you need will always be there? Kids with Leukemia are dealing with a nationwide shortage of two cancer drugs and the situation has brought to light a much bigger problem of drug shortages and how that affects your health and what you end up paying.
The Food and Drug Administration confirms that the number of drug shortages in recent years has tripled calling it a “serious public issue”. Hospitals in Tucson say that the issue is pretty common. At one Texas hospital, it’s an epidemic. According to an article by American Statesman out of Texas, Seton Healthcare Pharmacy Director Shewan Aziz reports, “I’ve been in this business at least 23 or 24 years … and this is the worst it has been by far.”
