Women's Health
Women undergo several major hormonal changes during their lives. Issues such as PMS, infertility, adrenal fatigue, thyroid disorders, PCOS, osteoporosis, peri-menopause and menopause can wreak havoc on a woman’s life. Our pharmacists are here to support women as they move through these stages and times of hormonal imbalance.
Peri-Menopause, Menopause, and Hormone Imbalance
We've all heard the symptoms...hot flashes, night sweats and generalized irritability. Between the ages of 45-55, women typically begin experiencing peri-menopause. However, symptoms can occur when a woman is in her mid-thirties. During menopause, a woman's ovaries stop making eggs, and subsequently produce less estrogen and progesterone. These hormonal changes are the cause of menopause symptoms.
While these symptoms can be unpleasant, there are options for potential treatment through customized hormone replacement therapy (HRT). At Reed's Compounding Pharmacy, we specialize in customized treatments that are created for you and your individual needs. After a brief consultation, we may be able to work with you and your medical provider to find the best hormone treatment for you.
In the US - at least 40 million women are currently experiencing menopause, and an additional 20 million women will reach menopause during the next decade. Treatment of menopause includes hormone replacement therapy (HRT), which is a topic that has gained national and international prominence in recent years.
In addition to customized hormone replacement therapy, there are several natural supplements that have been found to ease some of the symptoms of this life transition.
Customized Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)
Reed’s Compounding Pharmacy works together in triad with your medical provider and specializes in customizing hormone replacement therapy regimens, tailoring the doses and dosage forms for an individual’s specific needs.
During various stages of a woman’s life, she may need hormone supplements to assist in a particular transition from one stage of life into another.
Female Sexual Dysfunction
Female sexual dysfunction, FSD, involves persistent recurrent problems with sexual response or desire. Often, these problems distress you or strain your relationship with your partner. Many women experience problems with sexual function at some point in their lives. Female sexual dysfunction can occur at all stages of life, and may be ongoing or happen only once in a while.
Infertility/Fertility: CREIGHTON MODEL FertilityCare™ System
The CREIGHTON MODEL FertilityCare™ System featuring NaPro Technology teaches women to track naturally occurring phases of fertility and infertility. Interpretation and evaluation of a woman’s biological markers can provide considerable insight into gynecological and reproductive health conditions.
Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is a condition characterized by low bone density, which simply means that there is less bone compared to when you were young and your bones were at their peak, healthy stage. Because there is less bone density, the bone becomes brittle, weak and more likely to fracture Osteoporosis occurs when not enough new bone is formed or too much bone is removed, or both. Osteoporosis is often called “the silent condition” because many times you don’t know you have the condition until the first fracture occurs. Osteoporosis is a painful, crippling disease that is both preventable and treatable.
